"You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown"

A Parent's Review

February 7, 2025

Whether you're a Peanuts Gang fan or a big fan of movies like the It's the Great Big Pumpkin, Charlie Bown and Merry Christmas Charlie Brown, you won't want to miss "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" by Henrico Theatre Company and The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen!

This production brought the beloved Peanuts characters to life with charm and energy. Director Amy Perdue skillfully captured the essence of Charles M. Schulz's classic comic strip in a performance that was both nostalgic and refreshing.

My kids and I enjoyed watching this together. With its witty sense of humor, the performance was hysterically funny with scenes between Schroeder and Lucy and Lucy and Charlie with the classic psychiatry scene.

Characters from the iconic films were beautifully portrayed by the cast. Dan Stackhouse played Charlie Brown with an endearing and relatable blend of humor and sincerity, capturing the character's perpetual underdog status. Jenny Fralin's Lucy was a standout, bringing a perfect combination of bossiness and vulnerability. The entire ensemble, including Snoopy (Jim Morgan), Linus (Travis West), Schroeder (Ken Holley), and Sally (Shannon Gibson Brown), created a dynamic and engaging performance that engaged the audience throughout.

Musical numbers like "Happiness," "Suppertime," (my youngest son's personal favorite) and "My Blanket and Me" were a highlight for my kids.

"You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" was a fun, joyful production delivered by Henrico Theatre and the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen that resonated with all audiences. As a matter of fact, my youngest son and a sweet little girl in front of us were laughing the entire time!

Strong performances, engaging musical numbers, and thoughtful design elements combined to create a memorable and enjoyable theatre experience. This production offers something special for anyone who loves the comic strip or is new to the world of Charlie Brown.

This is a good production, Henrico Theatre!
